Aam Aadmi Party is all set for a historic win sweeping the Delhi Assembly polls. BJP is reduced to single digit and the Congress routed. The results and trends available so far show that Aam Aadmi Party has already crossed the majority mark in the 70- member Assembly by winning 42 seats and leading in 25 other constituencies . The BJP which had 31 seats in the last Assembly could barely win only two seats and leading in one other constituency. The Congress which had 8 seats before, has drawn blank.
Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has won but BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi has lost. Congress leader Ajay Maken also lost in Sadar Bazar constituency and quit the AICC general secretary post owning moral responsibility for the party's defeat. All erstwhile AAP leaders including Vinod Kumar Binny who defected the BJP have lost.
In a landslide victory, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal defeated his nearest BJP rival Nupur Sharma by over 39,000 votes after his party candidate Narayan Dutt Sharma won the Badarpur seat to begin the race for posting the best ever tally by a political party in any elections Delhi had witnessed. Then it was all AAP's win all the way. The party candidates Col. Devinder Sehrawat won the Bijwasan seat, A. P.Tripathi won Model Town and Satyendar Jain, Shakur Basti. The Chandani Chowk seat went to the party candidate Alka Lamba, who defeated Congress candidate and sitting MLA P.S.Sawhney. Party candidate Saurabh Bharadwaj won Greater Kailash seat.
Kiran Bedi lost to S.K.Bagga of Aam Aadmi party by a margin of 2000 votes in Krishna Nagar constituency, a strong hold of BJP which returned Dr. Harsh Vardhan in all the last assembly elections. Vijender Gupta of BJP won the Rohini seat.
AAP stalwarts Manish Sisodia and Somnath Bharati are leading. Congress leaders Kiran Walia and Shoaib Iqbal are trailing.

Ms Bedi apologised for the BJP's defeat and said she failed to come up to the responsibility given by the party on her soldiers.

Taking moral responsibility for Congress debacle, the Party's Campaign Committee Chief, Ajay Maken has resigned from AICC General Secretary post. Briefing media persons in New Delhi, Maken congratulated Aam Aadmi Party for its superb performance. Mr. Maken hoped that AAP will deliver on promises made to the people.

Congratulatory messages are pouring in from various quarters for Aam Aadmi party's spectacular win in Delhi assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he telephoned Kejriwal and assured him of the Centre's full support in the development of Delhi.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi also congratulated the AAP leader for his party's landslide victory. Social activist Anna Hazare urged his former team-member not to forget his struggle for the Jan Lokpal Bill and take it forward. He hoped that Kejriwal will do a good job as the Chief Minister. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also commended Kejriwal for the win. She said that it is a victory for the people and a big defeat for the arrogant.
Hailing Aam Aadmi Party for its stupendous performance, National Conference Working President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said the lesson for the Congress in the results is that Narendra Modi and BJP are not unbeatable, if the fight is taken to them, without waiting for their mistakes.

In Bihar, both Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and the newly-elected leader of JD(U) legislature party Nitish Kumar are anxiously waiting for the decision of the Governor over the present political crisis in the state. The party said, it will take the matter to the President if they do not get justice from the Governor. A report from our Patna Correspondent:
The Janata Dal United has threated to take the matter to the President's court if the Governor did not meet its demand for installation of Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister of the state. The party has sought an appointment with President tomorrow. All the legislators supporting the candidature of Nitish Kumar as leader of legislature party would parade before the President. National Deworming Day is being observed today in twelve states. It is an initiative to reduce the threat of parasitic worm infections in children. Albendazole will be orally administered to pre-school and school-going children between one and nineteen years in government schools and anganwadi centres across the states including Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Karnataka.
Our correspondent reports that the campaign will treat an initial 140 million children at risk for parasitic worms in schools and anganwadi centres.

In Haryana, 15 villages will be developed as Adarsh villages by next year under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY). All the 15 sitting MPs, including five Rajya Sabha MPs have identified one Gram Panchayat each. The focus will be on providing basic amenities and strengthening of infrastructure in these villages.
The SAGY has been launched by the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi on the 11th of October last year. Under this scheme, a Member of Parliament would identify one Gram Panchayat, with a population of 3, 000 to 5,000 to be developed by next year and thereafter, two such Gram Panchayats to be developed by 2019.

In Assam, security forces have gunned down a militant of National Democratic Front of Bodoland-Songbijit faction last night in Kokrajhar district. The IGP, L R Bishnoi told AIR that encounter occurred between a joint team of the army and police with Bodo militants at Fulkumari forest area under Bogribari police station. Bishnoi said that the slain militant was identified as Orga who involved in several anti-social activities. He said that other militants managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness. Arms and ammunitions were recovered from the slain militant.

After a weak opening, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange recovered, to post a gain of 27 points, at 28,254 in afternoon trade, amid volatility, a short while ago. But earlier in the morning, the Sensex had declined 162 points, before surging to gain as much as 406 points at one stage. Similarly, the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange had climbed 9 points, to 8,536 a short while ago.
